Talking cat tries hard to make you laugh in Talking Tom Cat for iPad

Talking and reacting to user input, this app is good for a giggle but not for the long term unless you're young.

Talking Tom Cat for iPad is a variation on the popular Talking Tom Cat app for iPhone. The basic app is available for free from iTunes, there are a number of add-ons and upgrades that cost between $0.99 and $24.99 each. Talking Tom Cat for iPad installs easily on the iPad.

Talking Tom Cat for iPad uses the same model as the other apps in the series. An animated tomcat appears on the screen. You say something and Tom repeats it with changes in voice and expressions. You can interact with the cat, such as patting his belly to make him purr, poking him, or pulling his tail,m all to get responses. There are props such as a bag and pillow, all designed to get an amusing reaction from Tom. If you buy upgrades you get even more you can do, and you can actually earn upgrades by using the app a lot. You can dress Tom up and give him things to play with.

Talking Tom Cat for iPad is one of those apps that's amusing for a while, but familiarity leads to boredom. We can see this being lots of fun for younger people, who really made the originals popular, but adults will tire of the app after a few minutes. Sure, it's good for a few laughs, but not for the long term.
