Cut the Rope is fun for your Android device

Feed a ravenous monster candy with this fun free Android app.

Cut the Rope is the sort of Android game we love: supersimple to play but challenging to master, with a side benefit in the form of a physics lesson. Om Nom is a candy-loving monster who arrives at your front door in a cardboard box. To make him happy (and win gold stars and unlock new levels) you must feed him candy. The catch is you have to lower the candy on a rope (more of a string, actually) that you must cut at just the right place to drop it into Om Nom's mouth. You must cut more strings as the game advances, leaving you with increasingly complex problems in simple physics to solve. Which string do you cut first, and which one last, to drop the candy on target? And what's with the bubbles lifting the candy out of reach? Play it and find out!

We installed the latest release of Cut the Rope's full version, which is free but is supported by ads. The Options let us turn the sound and music on or off as well as reset the game. To cut a string, you simply swipe your finger across it. The game starts with the Om Nom's box arriving. The first level of play is ridiculously easy, of course: Cut the string, and gravity does the rest. But soon we advanced to the next level, where Om Nom's treat is suspended from the ceiling and also tied off to the side. Cutting the right string causes the candy to swing into Om Nom's range. Next came three strings, then four. Things get much trickier as you unlock more games. Our favorite was in Season 3, a DJ game in which we had to rotate an LP record to swing the candy to Om Nom. Acquiring Superpowers like telekinesis lets you control the candy and improve your score.

As we mentioned, the free full version inserts ads here and there, but we had no trouble skipping over them to keep feeding Om Nom, who is never satisfied. Cut the Rope offers a fun and easy lesson in basic physics!
