Play and rip DVDs for Apple devices

Play back any format, and convert DVDs for iDevices with ease using Favor DVD Player for Mac.

Favor DVD Player for Mac is a utility for playing and ripping DVDs. Supporting all DVD formats, Favor DVD Player for Mac lets you watch your DVDs on your MacBook or iMac. Even better, Favor DVD Player for Mac lets you rip DVDs to formats for your Mac or portable iDevice, as well as Apple TV.

Favor DVD Player for Mac downloads and installs easily. The interface has preset defaults for the most common settings, and a simple interface for watching DVDs. We watched a wide variety of disks, in numerous formats, and all played properly. We also ripped a few DVDs to be played on iPad and iPhone, and the process was both easy and relatively fast. It still takes a bit of time to rip disks using Favor DVD Player for Mac, but it seems to rip in about one eighth the normal playback speed while retaining the original's quality. To rip you need to upgrade to the full version; playing DVDs can be done with the free download.

We had no trouble at all with Favor DVD Player for Mac, and while there's a huge number of DVD playback and ripping software available for the Mac, we found this package worked reliably, relatively fast, and solidly. With the full version costing $34.99, it's not the cheapest ripping software on the market, but its strong features make it attractive.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Favor DVD Player 1.2.
