Popular real-estate research site Zillow.com now has an Android app, which you can use to check real estate and home values while on the go. The app even syncs with your Zillow.com account to give you access to all of your saved homes and searches, from anywhere.
If you've never used Zillow, it's a powerful service that tracks current real-estate listings, rentals, and even recently sold properties. What's more, it uses local data and its own set of algorithms to come up with estimated values, or Zestimates, of just about any home in the U.S. While these Zestimates shouldn't be taken as official property appraisals, they are still useful for those just getting started with their real-estate research.
With the Zillow app, you can get started by searching for homes based on specific filters or by simply browsing through nearby listings. Either way, Zillow lets you sort through your search results by several different specs including price, square footage, lot size, bedrooms, and year built. These sorting options alone make Zillow an incredibly rich resource of real-estate data. But there's more. You can save properties and searches for easy access later. And if you sign in with your Zillow account, your saved items will be available from any device.
One thing that sets Zillow apart from any other real-estate app I've seen is the Draw tool. This actually lets you draw circles around the regions on the map that you want to search. It's an incredibly useful feature that makes even the most specific searches a piece of cake.
Once you find a property you're interested in, you can save it to your favorites list, share it (via e-mail, text, Facebook, or Twitter), or contact an appropriate agent.
Whether you're in the market to buy a new home or you're contemplating selling your current home, the Zillow app should be a part of your initial research. It's powerful, free, and easy to use, and it syncs all your data with your Zillow.com account.
