Soundscapes can be used for a wide variety of purposes: to relax, to block out annoying noises, to set the mood at parties, and much more. Atmosphere Lite is an easy-to-use program that lets you create custom soundscapes or simply choose from a wide variety of presets. We think this program is a great choice for anyone who enjoys nature sounds but often ends up stuck in front of a computer instead of outside.
Atmosphere Lite has a simple, intuitive interface. The preset soundscapes include deep forest, rainy day, ocean night, thunderstorm, night stream, forest stream, dawn chorus, rainforest, ocean's edge, and woodland campfire. Each of these can be customized by turning individual background sounds on or off; these include rain, streams, campfires, jungle sounds, and more. If that weren't enough, Atmosphere Lite also comes with a huge variety of other sounds that can be added using sliders to adjust the volume, including thunder, numerous species of birds, frogs and toads, and several insects. The program can optionally display a background image that covers the screen; some images are included, or you can select your own. This is a nice touch if you're using Atmosphere Lite during the workday for a quick relaxation break. If you have a tendency to get a little too relaxed, the program's alarm clock feature can alert you at a specified time. The program's built-in Help file is thorough, but we didn't need to consult it; we found Atmosphere Lite to be quite intuitive and fun to experiment with. Overall, we were quite impressed with Atmosphere Lite, and we recommend it.
Atmosphere Lite installs politely but leaves a folder behind upon removal.
