Flip through the catalog on your iPad

Nordstrom The Catalogs lets you view recent featured items from the store's catalogs. Though you won't get the full Nordstrom inventory, the thrust of this app seems to be giving you the catalog page-flipping experience on your iPad.

Upon launch, you're presented with the most recent issue on the upper half of the screen and previous issues you can scroll through at the bottom. Once a catalog is selected, you can simply swipe to the left or right to turn the pages. Touch a page to get all the listings on that page, and touch a listing to open the page in an integrated Web browser.

While the app doesn't offer the full Nordstrom shopping experience, anyone who likes catalogs knows how fun it can be to browse through the monthly listings. Nordstrom does a fine job of recreating that experience, and heading to the official site (via the integrated browser) is just a touch away.

Overall, we think the Nordstrom app could be better if it covered the store's entire inventory (like other big store apps) and offered location information for nearby stores, maps, featured deals, and an integrated shopping cart. But even as is, it's fun to flip through the pages of a catalog on your iPad, and if you're a Nordstrom shopper, this might be the perfect fit for your iOS device.
