Bike Baron is a stunt bike game for both iPhone and iPad that might be the best we've seen yet for iOS. Made by an all-star developer team with folks from the groups that made Minigore, Death Rally, and Aqua Globs, this well-designed game really shines. Even the musical score is from the same person that made the music for Angry Birds. In other words, there's a lot of talent behind this game.
Unlike many of the games in this genre, you get just one set of controls for Bike Baron: arrows for tilting on the left and buttons for gas and brake on the right. Left-handed players also can swap which side they want the controls in the settings. Even without the extra control options found in the other two games, we thought Bike Baron had the most precise controls we had seen yet.
The graphics in Bike Baron are smooth and cartoonlike. The obstacle courses have funny additions like farm animals to jump over and you'll need to avoid exploding barrels as you try to make your way to the finish. Your rider also benefits from rag doll physics, making your crashes much more humorous as you bounce over the obstacles.
Bike Baron offers a ton of content, letting you race through 40 different themed tracks with 100 different challenges. You even have a level editor where you can create tracks or download other user tracks for virtually unlimited replay value. There are also four skill levels to choose from, giving you the option to have casual runs or really challenge yourself for the best time once you have all the tracks unlocked.
Overall, Bike Baron is a very well-made stunt bike game with beautiful cartoonlike graphics, great controls, and more than enough content to keep you coming back for more. Even if you've never tried a game from this genre, Bike Baron has enough to offer that you'll probably get some enjoyment out of the game.
