Scottrade Mobile lets you trade on the go

Scottrade Mobile puts all of the online brokerage's trading tools in the palm of your hand. It lets you conduct research on securities, manage your account, and place trade orders just as easily as you would on the full Web site.

From anywhere in the app, you can get stock readings by hitting the Get a Quote button on the bottom of the screen. Type in a ticker symbol or company name to bring up all of a stock's vitals, as well as options to find relevant news, set alerts, and add the stock to your Watch List. Then, when you're ready to take action, you can easily make trades and manage your account by tapping the appropriate icons at the top of the screen. The app is extremely powerful, as it lets you do just about everything you can do on Scottrade.com.

On the other hand, we didn't particularly like Scottrade Mobile's interface. The navigation, which features frequent pop-over windows, is slightly annoying, and with virtually no Settings menu, there's no real way to customize your experience.

Overall, we're glad that Scottrade has developed such a capable mobile app, especially since split-second decisions on the go are critical to many traders. While we do hope for some notable user experience improvements in future versions, we still think Scottrade Mobile is a worthwhile download as-is.
