PDFs can be useful but they can also be a pain; at one time or another, most of us have encountered a PDF that we wished were in an editable format. ByteScout PDF Viewer is a basic program that lets you not only view PDFs but also export them in editable formats. It's nothing fancy, but it does work.
The program's interface is plain, with a few buttons across the top for its features. You can open and view PDFs, print them, and export them as HTML, text, or Word files. That's the extent of what ByteScout PDF Viewer does. We tried the program's features with several different PDFs and had mixed results; depending on both the content of the original PDF and the desired output, the formatting can get pretty screwy in the converted version. This isn't necessarily the fault of ByteScout PDF Viewer though, and as is typically the case with this type of program, PDFs that are primarily text-based turn out the best. Overall, there was nothing about ByteScout PDF Viewer that really blew us away, but if you're looking for a quick, simple way to convert PDF files into other formats, it might be worth looking at. Just don't expect much in the way of features or documentation, and there's no help file.
ByteScout PDF Viewer comes as a ZIP file. It installs and uninstalls without issues.
