Leap over obstacles, avoid pits of death, and run like heck in iRunner, a fast-paced running platformer where your goal is to collect as many batteries as possible. The game features vibrant HD graphics, plenty of animations, and a fun soundtrack.

Gameplay
In iRunner, you play a stuffed doll who speeds through various worlds to collect items and power-ups while getting progressively faster. Controls are simple: players tap the "jump" or "slide" buttons in response to oncoming obstacles such as pitfalls, spikes, and hanging light bulbs. Collecting four costume gift boxes triggers a short animation sequence that transforms your character into a superhero while adding a bonus multiplier to your score. As you reach each checkpoint, your character starts running faster as well.

The top panel displays your score, a battery icon, and the number of presents and lives. Collect green batteries to charge a meter that rewards you with lives when completely filled. A linear map on the bottom of the screen indicates how close you are to each checkpoint and the finish lines.

Game animations are smooth and colorful. The touch controls are responsive even during some of the faster sections of the game. Although iRunner isn't the first game of its kind, its execution and gameplay felt as solid and polished as many of the genre's paid options that are currently available in the Android Market such as Stellar Escape, Lame Castle, and Robot Unicorn Attack.

Features
iRunner features three modes: Training, Normal, and Challenge. In Training and Normal modes, players run on a limited, finite course with varying obstacle challenges. Challenge mode puts players on an infinite course to try and score as high as possible. In addition, iRunner also features an achievement system that keeps a record of how many gifts you collect and how often you trigger bonus multiplying transformations . Installation was simple and painless. iRunner takes up about 7MB of storage and can also be moved to the phone's SD card. The menus are clear and easy to navigate, and the loading screen will help you learn the game's controls.

Wrap-up
iRunner is a fun game that offers a casual and addicting experience with added benefits for replay. Although you're left with little reason to revisit the first two modes after completion, Challenge mode will keep players hooked as the preferable mode for unlocking achievements and earning higher scores. Its infinite length and faster speeds offer opportunities for longer combo streaks. Hopefully the game will add new stages and sprites in future updates, but iRunner at its current state is already very entertaining and definitely worth downloading.
