Virtual desktops are a great idea if you find yourself with too much happening on your computer screen. These programs come in a variety of versions, from those designed for hard-core geeks to those meant for casual users who don't need a lot of options. Moo0 MultiDesktop falls into the latter category. This simple program lets users add three virtual desktops to their machine with just enough features to make them functional.
The program's interface is plain and intuitive. It appears as an icon in the system tray, and right-clicking on it displays a menu. The program lets users create three additional desktops, and unlike some other programs we've seen, they can't be given unique names; the desktops go by the names 1, 2, 3, and 4. We were happy to find, however, that each desktop could be given its own wallpaper, making each one easy to distinguish when quickly flipping through them. Users can select the hot keys to be used to switch between the desktops, but there's also a small navigation bar that floats on the desktop from which users can choose. We liked it that the navigation bar's transparency could be adjusted, making it handy but unobtrusive. Moo0 MultiDesktop doesn't come with a Help file, but it doesn't really need one, either; it's pretty easy to figure out. Overall, Moo0 MultiDesktop didn't have nearly as many features as some other virtual desktops we've seen, but it is extremely easy to use. This is a good choice even for novices who are trying virtual desktops for the first time.
