Basic image editor

Put the finishing touches on your images with this simple program.

For heavy-duty image editing, a program like Photoshop is a must, but many users don't need anything that big and complex. Digital Photo Finalizer Lite Edition provides a simple suite of editing tools. It's not going to replace a full-featured photo editor, but, as the name suggests, it's a good choice for putting the finishing touches on your photos.

The first thing to be aware of is that you'll be forced to use a free 30-day trial version of the Pro Edition of the software, which will likely get you used to using tools that the Lite Edition doesn't contain. Among these are the skin tone finalizer, batch photo fixing, easy photo resizing, sharpening with preview, and advanced fine-tuning. If these features are important to you, either look elsewhere or be prepared to pay for the upgrade to Pro Edition. The program's interface isn't particularly attractive, but it's easy enough to navigate. A pane on the left displays the original image, while a pane on the right displays the edited one. Beneath these panes the program's features are arranged in a series of tabs, which for the Pro Edition trial include Basic, Fix Skin Tones, Resize, Sharpening, and Advanced. The two Advanced tabs contain controls for contrast, lightening, and hue adjustment. The various sliders and menus within the panes are somewhat cluttered and not very intuitive at first glance, but they're not terribly difficult to figure out with a little effort. The program has tools for cropping and rotating, as well as a large image preview for times when the smaller preview is inadequate. The program's built-in Help file is surprisingly well-written and thorough. Overall, Digital Photo Finalizer didn't knock our socks off--it doesn't do anything that we haven't seen numerous times in other programs--but it does work well for what it is. If you're looking for a way to make quick, relatively minor edits to your images, it might be worth checking out.

Digital Photo Finalizer Lite Edition installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.
