Cubism

Challenge yourself with this fun puzzle game.

We love a good puzzle game, and Cuber Extreme, though simple in design, definitely delivers. Don't be surprised if this fun and challenging game keeps you playing for way longer than you had intended.

The object of Cuber Extreme is to push colored cubes around a board, matching like colors and types so that the cubes disappear and the board is cleared. The rendering of the board is in a 3D style, and the player is represented by a little person who can walk around the board and push the cubes. The cubes come in different colors and different styles--anchor cubes that can't be moved, puzzle cubes that can only be removed by identical cubes, and so on--giving users a variety of different challenges. We especially like the fact that the game comes with several tutorial and training levels that users must work through in order to unlock the higher levels, and the built-in Help dialog clearly explains each type of cube. The game is controlled entirely by the arrow keys and spacebar, and although we still found ourselves reaching for the mouse occasionally, the controls were easy to master. We do wish that the game had a hint function within the training levels--we're not always great with games of strategy, and sometimes we found ourselves stuck--but that's our only real complaint. Overall, Cuber Extreme is a lot of fun, and suitable for players of all ages.

Cuber Extreme is free. It installs a desktop icon without asking and leaves a folder behind upon removal. We recommend this program to all users.
