NYC Subway 24-Hour KickMap is an around-the-clock interactive guide to the New York City subway system.

NYC Subway 24-Hour KickMap is an around-the-clock interactive guide to the New York City subway system. It combines the clean, easy-to-read design of the popular KickMap (an alternative print map beloved by cartography and design nerds) with excellent Google Maps integration.

The app's primary interface is the attractive, five-borough KickMap that lists every line and stop, along with a one-touch toggle between night and day maps (since the lines can change significantly after hours). While navigating NYC, you'll mostly touch and drag to find your location or destination on the KickMap--which is available offline, even when you're in a subway tunnel--then you simply touch and hold on any station to pull up its exact location in Google Maps, in a pop-up window, without leaving the app. This elegant integration of Google Maps saves a lot of time, as does the built-in compass for users of the 3GS and later. You can also press "Locate" and KickMap will pinpoint your position and either highlight the nearest stations or let you specify a line. You can also browse alphabetically by borough for station names, and the map shows which stations let you change directions on the same line for free (in case you miss your stop). Frequently updated service alerts show delays, but these are not infallible.

With its well-designed offline map, quick access to nighttime changes, and speedy interface, the 24-Hour KickMap is one of the best app's for navigating NYC's subway lines.
