LightBike 2 is a fast-paced, Snake-style arcade game in which you compete in vehicles similar to the light cycles in the classic movie "Tron."
You turn at 90-degree angles by tapping touch-screen buttons on your right and left, as you build walls to try to box in your competitor bikes--AIs or fellow humans, via Bluetooth or Internet--and you can also tap buttons to jump and temporarily boost your speed. You have both a first-person view and an inset top-view radar, and you can choose between standard and death match modes on two different maps.
The rounds go very quickly, giving this game some solid pick-up-and-play value, but the combination of high speeds and sometimes slightly unresponsive controls can make for a steep difficulty curve (and you have to spend a lot of time with this app to access achievements and upgrades). That said, LightBike 2 looks great, and the multiplayer matchmaking is easy when it works, although it can take some trial and error to get a real-time Internet match under way.
LightBike 2 is a fun, flashy game with promise, but we'd like it even more with networking and control improvements. If you're looking for a few minutes of racing fun (or if you're a big "Tron" nerd), LightBike 2 is a worthwhile free download.
