Quick Wikipedia search

Wapedia isn't the only free Android app to access Wikipedia, but its extras make it a favorite.

Wapedia isn't the only free Android app to access Wikipedia, but its extras make it a favorite. If you're patient, Wapedia will search for article matches as you type, which saves you some effort. Along with pulling in Wikipedia content, it also imports your article's photos and a collapsed table of contents that saves on space and helps you navigate around.

In addition to sharing articles with friends, you can read articles in a language other than your default, customize preferences, and read in full-screen mode. We appreciate the bookmark button that keeps tabs on articles for later viewing and also lists your history of searches.

If you're so inclined, the ad-supported Wapedia will show you featured content and popular articles, or pick one at random. Nor is it limited to Wikipedia. Wapedia also searches an encyclopedia's-worth of public wikis in multiple languages, including Wictionary, Commons (for royalty-free images), and LOLCat Bible.

We found Wapedia a mite sluggish in our 3G tests, but it loaded images and text for long articles quickly enough to keep coming back.
