Mayan mysticism

MysticBoard specializes in astrological and mystic-themed freeware and Web-based gadgets that let you generate astrological readings and other results by filling a few simple fields and clicking a few simple buttons. Its Mayan Astrology Birth Chart is an example of some its more "esoteric" wares; it generates a Mayan Birth Chart based on the astrological principles of the ancient Maya. Mayan birth charts are similar to those in Western mysticism but are based on glyphs, the symbols that make up the Mayan alphabet. Different glyphs placed in specific orientations have different significance to the believer.

Mayan Astrology Birth Chart's interface is typical of the MB software family: just a simple dialog for entering a name and birth date and a button to fetch the chart. Basic File menus, including a Help file linked to online assistance, are complemented by a registration link and a link to add Mayan Astrology Birth Chart to a Web site as a traffic generator, which is probably a good idea since it's a blast to play around with, whatever you may think of the mystical aspects. The charts themselves are fun, too, with stylized, simplified representations of Mayan glyphs in proper geographical placement, together with the appropriate reading. A Back button lets you start over, but that's all there is to this simple, little gizmo.

MB Mayan Astrology Birth Chart is freeware, and although you must register to use the related online forum, that's free, too. It works in both Vista and Windows 7. It's free, fun, educational, and maybe even enlightening.
