Fire rag dolls at targets

Fire rag dolls from a cannon to hit targets using the touch screen on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Ragdoll Blaster 2 Lite is a free 18-level preview of Ragdoll Blaster 2, the much more polished follow-up to physics-based puzzler Ragdoll Blaster.

The interface of Ragdoll Blaster 2 is a lot like its predecessor, but with a brand-new skin. You're still using your touch screen to aim and fire rag dolls from a cannon, but the earlier game's graph-paper-sketch aesthetic has been swapped out for a more realistic, steampunk-like backdrop, with a cute musical score, cartoony sound effects, and higher production values throughout.

The object of the game is the same: each level has a red-and-white, bulls-eye target, which you need to hit with a rag doll--ideally using the least number of rag dolls possible. At first, the challenge is simply judging trajectories correctly (you touch to determine the rag doll's direction and relative distance, then release to fire), but the game's interactive, partially destructible environments quickly ramp up with all kinds of tricks--everything from buttons and switches to teleporters, multiple cannon relays, bombs, gravity wells, and even blocks of ice. An optional laser-sight can help with your accuracy, and a reset button lets you restart a level.

Like its predecessor, Ragdoll Blaster 2 strikes a nice balance between providing a challenge and fending off frustration. You can often use brute force to solve a puzzle (there's no limit to how many rag dolls you can fire), and then go back and figure out how to do it with the least number of rag dolls. With its fun, 12-level tutorial and 18 full levels, Ragdoll Blaster 2 provides a lot of value for a free app. It's definitely worth a download for puzzler fans.
