Basic video viewer

Access online video in multiple languages, but don't expect too much.

Online videos used to be pretty rare, unless you were prepared to spend a big chunk of time waiting for video files to download. With the advent of high-speed Internet and Flash, it's now hard to imagine life on the Internet without video; it's become a pretty significant part of our online experience. OnLine TV Live is one of many programs that attempt to organize and provide quick access to online video content. Unfortunately, we didn't find much to like about this application.

OnLine TV Live's interface somehow manages to be both visually sleek and somewhat confusing. Banner ads give the application a rather cluttered appearance. The program has separate tabs for English, Romanian, Spanish, French, and Brazilian videos, but these distinctions only seem to work when you're viewing the section of the program that contains videos from YouTube and similar sites. When you look at the so-called TV content, it's organized by genre, but streaming channels in any number of languages are all thrown together. The program also provides access to a number of streaming radio stations, which are also organized by genre. There's no Help file, so although the program is easy to use, you're out of luck if you have questions about anything. Overall, OnLine TV Live worked pretty well, but we've seen similar programs that offer a lot more content in a much more organized format.

OnLine TV Live is free. It comes as a zip file and installs a desktop icon without asking, but uninstalls cleanly. We recommend this program with reservations.
