Browser-based file sharing

Manage BitTorrent downloads within Chrome with this simple add-on.

BitTorrent technology has become one of the most popular ways for people to share large files, including all types of media and software. Instead of waiting for a file to download from one user to another, BitTorrent allows users to download pieces of files from multiple users, and at the same time upload the parts they've already downloaded. The more people are sharing a particular file, the faster it downloads. Not surprisingly, this type of file-sharing has grown tremendously over the past several years. Torrent2exe is an add-on for Chrome that makes downloading BitTorrents easier than ever.

Torrent2exe is extremely simple, but quite useful. It appears as an icon to the right of Chrome's address bar. To download a file, simply get the file's URL--there are plenty of Web sites devoted to sharing BitTorrent files where you can find just about anything--and paste it into Torrent2exe. Click Download and the extension manages both the downloading and uploading of your chosen file. The extension doesn't have much else in the way of features or options, but it's a nice way to deal with BitTorrents without using a separate client. Having a browser-based BitTorrent manager allows you to easily share files without disrupting your other Web activities, which we found quite enjoyable. Users who aren't familiar with BitTorrent technology may not fully understand how all of this works--there's no Help file--but users with even a bit of experience should find Torrent2exe to be plenty intuitive.

Torrent2exe is free. It installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this add-on to all users.
