Complete audio editor

There are few things you can't do with this feature-packed program.

We see a lot of audio conversion software, and the vast majority of these programs are quite limited in scope, allowing you to convert, for example, MP3 files to four or five other formats. But then there are programs like Audio Workstation. This program is so jam-packed with features that it's hard to imagine that the average non-professional user would ever need anything else.

Audio Workstation's interface could stand to be a little less cluttered and a little more intuitive, but overall, it's pretty easy to figure out. The program's major features are all arranged with large, labeled buttons. And what a lot of features there are. You can perform batch conversions between a large variety of different file types, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. The program also includes a CD ripper that finds album data and cover art, a cover art editor for creating custom covers, and a file editor that allows you to split and join files as well as adjusting various effects. Audio Workstation even has an interface that takes you to from within the program, making it easy to copy and save song lyrics (although the amount of advertising on that site is rather annoying). The program's built-in Help file is quite thorough and includes plenty of screenshots. Overall, although we would have liked to a slightly better design, we were impressed with what Audio Workstation has to offer, and we think it's a great choice.

Audio Workstation is free to try, but certain features are disabled in the trial version. The program installs politely but leaves a folder behind upon removal. We highly recommend this program to all users.
