Bluefox WMA MP3Converter is an easy-to-use program that allows users to convert a variety of different file formats into MP3 and WMA files. We have seen many similar programs and there's not much about Bluefox that really sets it apart, but it does work well, and we like it for its simplicity.
The program's interface is plain and intuitive, with large graphic buttons that represent its major features. Users simply add a file or files (the program does support batch processing) and choose which format they want to use for the output. The only two options are WMA and MP3, which is somewhat limiting. If desired, users can set the bit rate and sample rate for the conversion, or they can leave these settings at their defaults. Users then choose a destination for their new file, and the program does the rest. We did like that the program offers a few extra features; users can crop files at specific time stamps and enter meta information, for example, and the program also allows users to rip audio tracks from videos. But for the most part, Bluefox is very similar to other audio conversion programs on the market. The program's built-in Help file is brief but adequate. Overall, although there was nothing about the program that particularly impressed us, we did feel that it was well-designed, easy to use, and effective.
Bluefox WMA MP3 Converter is free to try, but the trial version has a 20-file limit and a nag screen. The program installs a desktop icon without asking and leaves a Start menu item and folder behind upon removal. We recommend this program to all users.
