Spartan cropper
Picture Cropper is an extremely basic program that performs the most basic image-cropping tasks. It has almost no features, but for a lightweight image cropper, we suppose it could be worse.
The program's interface is quite sparse, but since it really only has one feature, it's not hard to figure out. Cropping an image is simply a matter of loading an image and dragging a rectangular outline across the area to be cropped. If you want a circle, oval, or other shape, forget it; a rectangle is all you're getting. If you need a certain size or a perfectly square, you can forget that, too, unless you can eyeball it. Did you get the size and shape right, but you need to move the cropped area over just a bit? Too bad; Picture Cropper thinks you should start over. Once you've made your selection, the program crops the image and then gives you the option to save it. Images can be saved as a JPEG, BMP, or PNG formats. The program has no Help file, and we're not exaggerating when we say that we've just explained Picture Cropper in its entirety. There's just not much to it, and we suspect most users will want something with a few more features. But for a completely barebones image cropper, though, it does work.
Picture Cropper is free. It installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend it with reservations; it functions well enough, but it's too basic to be of much use.
