P2P Rocket is a mediocre file-sharing program that lets users access the Gnutella and eDonkey networks. Although it works, it doesn't offer any compelling reasons to choose it over other popular file-sharing programs, and it has performance issues too.
P2P Rocket's interface is fairly intuitive, sharing the conventions of most P2P interfaces. It offers both basic and advanced search options, allowing users to fine-tune their search results. For the most part, the program worked as well any other Gnutella client. We did find that after the program had been open for a while, its interface stopped loading completely when we switched between it and other windows. For example, when we switched from Firefox to P2P Rocket, we could still see open tabs in Firefox where, presumably, some aspect of P2P Rocket's interface was supposed to be displayed. We're pretty sure this isn't some sort of built-in transparency feature, since it went away when we restarted P2P Rocket. It's also puzzling that, although the program claims it has a "power mode," which it further warns is for more advanced users, it doesn't have a Help file to explain it or any other feature. Overall, we weren't impressed with P2P Rocket, and we think there are many better P2P options available.
P2P Rocket is free. It installs desktop icons without asking and leaves a folder behind upon removal. We recommend this program with reservations; it works, just not very well.
