Still underbaked

If your goal is to save your fingers from typing and retyping the same log-in and password information, RoboForm for iPhone can help. Existing RoboForm users can sync the iPhone application to an online RoboForm account and download encrypted, password-protected credentials. From there, you can log onto a site--within the RoboForm app--by tapping the Log-in button.

However, the first generation of the RoboForm application is fraught with conditions and work-arounds. You must already use RoboForm on the desktop, which makes start-up time-consuming for new users. Syncing is currently one-way--from the online account to the iPhone. The inability to add and edit new credentials and forms from the iPhone app hinders its convenience, and the app's exposure of your password next to the Log-in button strikes us as risky for an application whose sole purpose is to secret such information away.

Overall, RoboForm for iPhone needs more time and work to boost it to the level of convenience that makes the desktop version indispensable to RoboForm's advocates. Existing RoboForm desktop users will still find the app useful on the iPhone, particularly if they're using hard to remember passwords generated from the RoboForm desktop app.
