Oil Painting Tutorials Beginners Guide is an electronic book that offers tips for the beginning oil painter. It's not awful, but there are many better resources available online for this purpose.
First off, users should be aware that this is not a piece of software, but a 25-page PDF file. The file is password protected, and users must register with their e-mail address and wait to have the password e-mailed to them. This process also enrolls users in a series of oil painting e-mail tutorials, which we found annoying, although we did find it easy to unsubscribe. As for the content of the book itself, we weren't terribly impressed. Users who truly don't know anything about oil painting will likely find a bit of guidance in this book; it discusses, for example, the difference between oil and acrylic paints, and it touches on the different types of brushes that are available. But much of the information is extremely general, and users who are looking for information about specific techniques or exercises will be disappointed. The book is almost entirely text, with a small graphic here and there, many of which are badly pixelated photos. Overall, although it's not completely worthless, the book comes off as amateurish and not particularly useful.
Oil Painting Tutorials Beginners Guide is free. It comes as a ZIP file with no need for installation. We do not particularly recommend this product; there are many better resources available.
