Unscramble the letters to make words

Word Scramble 2 is a free, ad-supported word-find game in which you quickly search for words formed by adjacent letters on a grid. The simple interface makes good use of the iPhone and iPod Touch touch screen: you trace words with your finger (three letters or longer) on a four-by-four or five-by-five letter grid. Light-up letters and bobbling animation provide nice feedback (especially since you're obscuring the letters you're choosing with your finger), and the game tracks your score, time remaining, and how many words you've found out of the number of possible words. (Although be warned that--as with many similar word games--many if not most of the "possible" words are lexicographic obscurities like "odist" and "iwis.") You can also switch the interface from horizontal and vertical, and rotate the grid for a fresh perspective.

The solo mode is fun enough to make this a worthwhile free game, but Word Scramble 2 also offers Play-and-Pass (for two to four players taking turns on the same grid), Challenge (you send a grid to a friend, found via Facebook or using your unique 10-digit "friend code"), and multiplayer Online options. The Online mode is surprisingly addicting for pick-up-and-play games, with a live ticker that shows your changing ranking as you compete against dozens of other players on the same grid.

Word Scramble 2 doesn't differ much from Word Scramble 1, adding a new look and an achievement system (with a sometimes pesky interface), but it's definitely a worthwhile download for fans of online word-find games.
