Basic fish screensaver

Enjoy sea scenes, but not very many of them.

Underwater Picture Screensaver is a basic screensaver featuring photos of sea life. Although the program works, it's rather short on both features and images.

The program's photos are of fairly high quality and feature beautiful fish. Unfortunately, there are only 12 images. This isn't a totally unreasonable number, but we would have liked to see more. We were also mildly annoyed by the fact that the publisher's Web address is displayed across the top of each image. The program offers a few options for customization. Users can choose to have the date and/or time shown in several different formats on the screensaver, and can also have the slide number shown. Although users can determine how long the transition effects between the photos lasts, there's no option to control how long the images themselves are displayed. The program has no sound or options to play music. We get the sense that some of the features that were included were thrown in with little regard to whether they'd be useful. Overall, it's not an awful screensaver, but it's not fantastic, either; the small number of images and the fact that many of the included features aren't that interesting leave us unimpressed.

Underwater Picture Screensaver is free. It installs desktop icons without asking but uninstalls cleanly. We don't particularly recommend this program; there's nothing functionally wrong with it, but there are much better screensavers out there.
