Video library tool

Track your video collection using this program.

Manage Your Videos 2009 provides users with a simple program to catalog their movie collection. While we would have liked to see a few tweaks, this is an easy program that practically anyone can utilize.

The program's interface will surely require a trip to the Help file. There isn't much onscreen direction about the command icons or the cluttered video library screen. Thankfully, a little experimenting will make this program feel like second nature. In order to populate their library, users must input a lot of data, which is our only gripe with the program. Users must fill out fields for Title, Stars, Year, and running time, and select drop-down menus to rate the movie and genre. Once the information is entered, that movie is instantly alphabetized among the rest of your collection. We liked how users can sort their movies by any of the fields they filled in. One special feature we enjoyed was the ability to keep track of borrowed movies, including a due date. A pop-up reminder system for overdue movies would have been helpful here.

Users with large movie collections will have to spend some time with this free program. While the lending system could have been smoother, overall, we were impressed by the program's cataloging abilities. We highly recommend it to movie buffs willing to put in the effort.
