This free file management program features a basic design and drag-and-drop functionality. It's extremely easy to use, as we were able to successfully apply sweeping changes to batches of files.
We encountered one glitch with ReNamer that involved its Help feature. When we tried to access it during the start-up and through the user interface, it produced an error and we were unable to view the Help PDF. Still, the program was very easy to navigate without any guidance. It walks you through the process of adding file and folder rules. Simply select the action (insert, delete, replace) and, depending on the action that you choose, you can select the word(s) you want to apply, and where you want to apply it (prefix, suffix). We liked the Preview feature that let us see our changes before we applied them, and once we clicked the Rename button, our changes were immediately applied. Should you make a mistake, the Undo option will do just that, but only for your most recent renaming task. The program does include a filter feature for folders that allows you add or skip files.
Both novice and experienced users will appreciate this program's even performance. Even though we couldn't access the program's Help feature, we still recommend it as worthy file management program.
