We especially like the user-friendly password discovery wizard, which works with secured ZIP, Word, and Excel files. The program requires minimal user interaction. Point to the password-protected file, and Ultimate ZIP Cracker will cycle through seven discovery methods, including brute force and date search. If you remember part of the password, the program offers options to quicken discovery. That's all fine and well, but in some of our testing with an Excel file, the program failed to uncover a simple password, even when we used multiple discovery methods. Also, the trial version won't recover passwords larger than five characters, which certainly isn't ideal. We can see how Ultimate ZIP Cracker could be handy to forgetful office workers, but we recommend you proceed with caution.
