This little utility gives you quick, at-a-glance access to your hard disk information, and throws in a few tools so that you can manage your system from one, centralized location. But the lack of a working Help file might not appeal to novices.
Your Free Disk Counter has an easy to navigate user interface. Simply select the disk from a drop-down menu, and the disk type, serial number, and byte space (used and unused) are all displayed. Below that are a few buttons for minimizing the window, and accessing the publisher's Web site. In terms of extras, the program offers the same tools found in your Control Panel, but all under one roof, with easy one-click access. The program includes a hard-disk cleaner, a disk defragmenter, a system restore feature, as well as a file transfer wizard. Each tool performed efficiently when we put it to the test.
The only problem with the program is that the Help file is unavailable. When we clicked on the Help link, it took us to an unavailable Web page. But despite the lack of user guidance, this free tool works well enough for those looking for quick access to their system's hard-disk info.
