No frills here, just effective file removal

Remove junk files quickly with this simple to use system maintenance tool.

Although it lacks any extras, this utility quickly and effectively located and deleted junk files.

We have to say, we were turned off by HLP Free PC Cleaner's pink, floral motif, but the user interface proved easy to navigate. Simple radio buttons let you select files, while a drop-down menu lists the disk drives you want to include in the scan. Another drop-down menu displays a long list of file extensions to include in the file cleanup. Prominent command buttons for managing the found files reside on the right side of the window. If you have any questions, you're out of luck since the program doesn't feature a Help file. It offers a link to the publisher's Web site and an e-mail address for support, but that's it. For our first run, we opted for a full scan of all of our temporary files, and for all extensions. Considering the large task, the program was extremely fast in scanning drives and pulling files. You can select specific files for deletion, or you can click the Select All button to take care of them in one fell swoop. As soon as we clicked the Delete Selected button, the program removed the files in less than a minute.

Though it installed a desktop shortcut without our permission, this simple file cleaner worked well and we recommend it for those who find their PCs overly cluttered with unnecessary files.
