Privacy protection plus

This freebie not only cleans up potentially compromising traces, it smacks down ads and keeps spam at bay.

Not only does this free utility delete temporary and history files from Windows, Microsoft Office, and Internet Explorer, it also cleans the traces left by popular programs such as Windows Media Player and WinZip. A generous list of privacy features helps us overlook All-in-One Secretmaker's idiosyncrasies.

To turn tools on or off, you can pull up the main interface from the system tray. The program effectively marks spam and kills pop-up windows, including Windows Messenger. Our favorite feature is the NetBIOS protection, which stops tracking companies from identifying you. The program includes whitelists for banners, pop-ups, and e-mail addresses. It can also generate any number of passwords using letters, numbers, or a combination of both.

The program does have its quirks. We can understand needing a reboot on both installation and uninstallation. However, the cleaning tools run only on start-up unless you press Ctrl Alt X to clean right away. Nonetheless, All-in-One Secretmaker can serve as a good privacy-protection supplement for most users, especially considering it's free.
