First Look video: Firefox 3

by Seth Rosenblatt

There's no doubt that the browser wars are back in full swing, with updates in the past week to Opera, Songbird, and a new Flock beta.

The training wheels are finally off Firefox 3, too. If you haven't checked out the five beta versions and three release candidates because you were worried about stability, security, and the all-important extension compatibility, take a look at the new Download.com review for the world's most popular open-source browser, for Windows and Mac.

Want something a bit more visual? Hot off the presses, this Firefox 3 First Look video showcases new features for managing add-ons and saving passwords, the controversial "awesome bar," and why Firefox 3 is the safest version of the browser yet.

Nice news!!! woohoo

Yesterday, I deleted an import system file incautiously. How angery I am!!!. Minutes later, I found http://www.recovery-soft.com has data recovery software, I downloaded and install, did as it tells me to do, then everything goes back!!! If not, I can't get this news.

what amazing!!!

data recovery, file recovery, data lost, file lost, find data back, repair computer, repair data

Es estupendo, rápido, ágil, bien diseniado, etc.
No esperábamos menos del Mozzila Firebox, cuando usábamos las versiones 2.0....., ya superaba ampliamente al Internet Explorer, ahora le gana por goleada.

Seth,
You mentioned that there is no way to "turn off" the awesome bar. Another C-Net post told how to use the "typed only" method, but here is a simple way to completely disable any drop-down menu listings from the URL bar when you type in something or any record of previously visited sites:

1. About:Config
2. browser.urlbar.MaxRichResults
3. double click and change the interger from 12 to 0
4. then clear all private data and there will never be a dropdown menu from the URL bar when you begin to type.

I had downloaded the Mozilla 3 beta and couldn't attach a google toolbar, which I use very much. So I turned back to the Mozilla I had been using. how can I know that the google toolbar is usable with the new mozilla?

I've been using Firefox for about 2 years now and was quite pleased with it. I read your info on the new upgrade and decided to install it. Well, for all it's new enhancements it crashed on me. I even tried unloading it and reinstalling it and I can't get it back at all. Thank God IE is always a sure thing, slow or not.
