Almost everyone takes pictures when traveling so they have something to bring back the memories once their vacation is over. A few years ago I went to several countries across Europe and took a ton of pictures with my digital camera. When I flip through the albums now, in some cases I'll forget where some of the more nondescript or interior pictures were taken. Today I found a program for Mac which not only solves that problem, but makes it more fun to view pictures from around the world.

Geophoto is a unique photo organizer that brings an animated 3D globe to your desktop. You can attach single images or sets of images to any area on the planet so your vacation photos can be attached to the place where you took them. To spin the globe you need only to click and drag your mouse to view different parts of the world. The Loupe tool supporting Google Maps works like a magnifying glass so you can zoom in on areas to pinpoint locations.

A really cool feature of Geophoto is the ability to use it with Flickr. You can use a specific tag to browse photos on Flikr or you can use the tag "geotagged" to grab photos from other Geophoto users that include location information. This makes it possible to browse your Geophoto globe and explore places using pictures taken by other people.

Geophoto is shareware ($19.95) so you won't be able to save your photo sets unless you register. But if you're looking for an intuitive way to view photos from your travels around the globe, this program offers a great way to do it.
