What's the perfect iPhone app?

Buying songs from your iPhone could be as easy as a touch of your finger.

Phill Ryu, one of my favorite Mac bloggers--and also a developer of fine Mac software--recently came up with five applications he'd like to see on the iPhone. There are already a ton of applications available for iPhone, many of which you can find at our iPhone Approll (a lot of the applications were reviewed by yours truly!). But if you're an iPhone owner, I would bet at least one of Phill's ideas has probably crossed your mind. I think my favorite of the fantasy applications is a fully functional iTunes Store for iPhone.

Speaking of the iPhone, word on the street (via AppleInsider) is that our friends in Europe will soon be making calls and browsing the Internet on Apple's touch-screen super phone. An iPhone deal has apparently been signed and is expected to be announced next week with service providers from Germany, France, and the U.K. I'm sure there are many of you still waiting for the iPhone to be released in your country, but at least this is a step in the right direction.

In other Apple news, some fuzzy pictures have surfaced of the new iPod Nano. I might have been able to include a link to the photos, but the images were quickly taken down after Apple's legal team got on the case. I guess this means that the pictures were probably legit; but if you ask me, I can wait to see the real deal when it's announced at the next Apple event. When it comes down to it, I'm just as curious as the next Mac user about new Apple stuff, but I think trying to acquire and post bad images of future products on the Internet is taking things a bit too far. Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for the infamous Apple keynote presentations in which Steve Jobs says, "One more thing." I guess I like the surprise. That being said, I can't wait to see what's in store for the Nano!

What do you think? What kind of application would you like to see for the iPhone? Are you excited about the iPhone coming to Europe? What do you think about relentless fans (of Apple or otherwise) finding and posting images of future products on the Internet? Let me know in the comments!

Perfect App would connect to other phones
by Kqdsoccer August 22, 2007 6:49 PM PDT
The perfect app would be the iTunes store on your iPhone. You could preview music and buy on the fly. That would make the iPhone a lot better. It would be awesome to be able to sit on a train or at a cafe' and then purchase a song and listen to it.

Stylus Input
by mririgo August 27, 2007 11:20 AM PDT
The keyboard on the iPhone is absolutely horrible. I want to see an app replace the keyboard with a stylus input area like in Palm and Windows Mobile so I can use a stylus to input my text.

Stylus Input? Bulls%^t. iTunes Store? Yep!

I was a proud owner of a Palm PDA for years, which I eventually replaced for a Tungsten E. I used to love my stylus. That being said, those who say the keyboard on the iPhone is bad are non-users... It is absolutely wonderful! What most people don't realize is that you must just keep on typing and you must trust the auto-correction. The faster you go the better it gets!!! Just don't pay attention to YOUR mistakes and you should be fine. Now, as for not being able to download stuff on the go... That really sucks. And Apple knows it... They probably did that because AT&T must have wanted to limit the bandwidth people would be using up...

:-) Louis
