Overcoming iPhone envy
Is your iPod feeling abandoned?
(Credit: CNET Networks)If your iPod is turning green with envy or blue with neglect from the incessant roar over Apple's iPhone (check our nerve center for the latest news, reviews, and apps), it may be time to revisit the programs that made you and your iPod inseparable until now.
Seth Rosenblatt's collection of best iPodware includes iGadget, the ultimate iPod data-syncing and management utility; MediaMonkey, a hit jukebox; and the Plato Video to iPod Converter, which makes your iPod video-ready.
Wedge in those headphones deep enough; crank up the volume loud enough, and you may never even hear all that iPhone trumpeting. Just don't forget to comment below on your favorite iPod software.

Yes, I do this on purpose. I know myself, and I would want it. lol. I already have too much to carry!
Thank you so much for your wonderful program. I just downloaded it today. The only problem I can see so far is that it interferes with my Norton. (That's not too hard to do. I hate norton!) Have a wonderful week!
p.s. I use the version 2006 and there's daily upgrade ALWAYS
Viva iPod!

While I know many of you have I pods and cell phones. I have a Motorola SLVR. this is both a sleek cell phone and an itunes player. While frequently use the cell phone, I don't use the itunes player(don't find it usefull compared to my mp3 player). Additionally, I don't use the other features either. (text web multimedia) These features are just another way to seperate you from your money!
I have studied the iphone compared it SLVR, and found the iphone comparable. Don't get me wrong the touch screen is cool, but the phone is too big.
In my overall estimation I would prefer a much smaller basic phone. Lose the camera, e-mail ipod/mp3, etc. features.
Hope this is helpfull.

And for all the criticism by those who do not own one. I am sorry. Save up for the next edition because its worth every penney to own such a beautiful piece of equipment. It's history in the making and we are part of it. I am estatic because I didn't waste my money.
Your Apple software is very sensitive. My initial suggestion is to remove your ITunes software. Then using Windows search look for anything to do with Apple (that is related to your ITunes program)or ITunes and delete them. Restart your computer and re-install the original software. That should take care of the problem.
If you are experiencing trouble with iTunes, I suggest that you uninstall it from your computer and install a different media player to use for synchronizing your iPod. For that i highly recommend Winamp. Download it here:

This is the basic 'full' version. When you are installing it be sure to tick off only the components you need under "choose components". I assume that you have no experience with Winamp, therefore I'll suggest a setup for you. It's the same as the setup I use ;):
Under "Choose Components" during the Winamp Setup, a lot is ticked off by default. I'd recommend you to remove the tick in "Winamp Agent" and under "Winamp Library" remove the tick in "Replay Gain Analysis Tool", "Winamp Dashboard" and "Online Media". Under "Core Media Library Components" remove the tick in "Local Media", "Bookmarks", "History" and "Now Playing". Under "Portable Media Player Support" be sure that everything IS ticked off. Now you'll have a slim install with only the features you basically need. Of course if there are any settings that you disagree with, you change them to whatever you want ;). This is just the way I set it up.
After it's installed launch Winamp and under Media Library select "Playlists" and "New". Type the name of your new playlist (For example "iPod playlist"). Now under "Playlists" select your new playlist and "Add". Then you add for example a folder on your computer where you have your music/video files stored. When you've added your files, select "Playlist Editor", "File", "Open playlist from Media Library" and select your playlist. Now you can play music on your computer. To use Winamp with your iPod, simply connect it to your computer WHILE Winamp is running and select "Yes" when prompted "Is this a portable media player you want to manage with Winamp?" and you're set to go!
If you are an experienced user I apologize for the overly detailed instruction, but I had to assume that you didn't know the stuff. Hope this reply was for some help to you.

It lives up to all the hype and then some. It does have a few issues I heard
about, but mine has worked perfectly since I activated it (took 15 min. for
mine). Don't believe all the negative envious, jealous post by Apple bashers.
They do not have an iPhone (can't afford one whaaa) or they are from
unrealistic people that want perfection, but will probably die unfulfilled and
unhappy. My advice is to go to an Apple store near you and play with one for
awhile. Ask questions and wait to see how this all plays out. It sounds like
you have a new phone so you have already made your choice? I have had
Treo's, iPaq and Casio smartphones. The iPhone is not a iPac, if you are a
business user the iPaq may be a better choice. I hated MS mobile and I don't
use all the business aps. I was using the multi media features more, videos,
MP3's, pictures etc. For these things the iPhone is hands down a better
choice. Also surfing the web, sending emails and text'ing. Way better/easier
with the iPhone. Everyone one that I know that has one (that includes a couple
Microsoft employee friends here in Seattle that will remain nameless) they all
love their iphones. Rumor is Bill Gates himself has one. Can anyone confirm
this? Wouldn't that be something. Welcome to the good side of "the force" Bill.

I love my iPod and it has proven its purchases many times over. Who wants to be connected to their phone ALL the time?
And how much does an iphone cost in the uk,wud like to get one.Its really cool. . .wanna go icrazy!!!
If one of my dynamic duo malfunctions, I send that part back and still have the service of the other...all-in-ones have their pros, but because these are "man-made" one or the other will have a malfunction at some time.
I just wish browsers had real and functional filters. I'd have entered "iPhone" into it months ago.
- Envy it is !!! So tired of this.

- I find it really amazing that everyone on this site that bashes the iPhone does NOT even own one, can't afford it, comes up with some lame excuse why they will never buy it, and most have never even touched one. Look guys (and gals). If you can't afford it please don't knock it. Nobody is twisting your arm to buy it. You will probably never get it, so it is irrelevant. Let those that did buy it, enjoy their pretty much perfect phone.
