LimeWire is an extremely popular, peer-to-peer file-sharing program based on the Gnutella network. The version 4.0 series ups the ante with a combination of feature tweaks, an updated interface, and better all-around performance.

In this First Look video, take a quick tour of the app and learn how to screen out illegally shared content.

Seth peers into the deep, dark corners of software so that you don't have to. He has yet to suffer a single nightmare about OS/2. You can follow him on Twitter.

Can't connect
by DrDave11 June 24, 2007 5:20 PM PDT
I went to the Limewire Forum and this seems to be a common problem, yet nobody seemed to have an answer. Norton seemed to be the root of all my connection problems with Vista. It was a 60 day "free" and I've never been a big fan, so I uninstalled it. Limewire works great!
Probably...

Your firewall. Try disabling your firewall real quick and then open Limewire and try to connect. If you are successful then you must enable the port that Limewire is using in your firewall settings. Good luck!

offline installer

When I first tried installing limewire I also got that same problem...then when I
looked closer on the limewire site, there's an option to download the offline
installer. The only way to get it is from limewire's site, not a download hosting
site like download.com or anything...anyway so you go to limewire.com, click on
download and go through all the steps and actually begin to download the
program and then on the page that the download starts from, is the option to
download the offline installer. Hope this helps!

Windows Vista

I have Windows Vista, and LimeWire works fine on my computer.

LimeWire until about 6 months ago was fine - but
by August 2, 2007 10:38 PM PDT
but now - it's horrible. Some virus like programs have apparently invaded thousands of computers using LimeWire and it takes 4 to 10 searches of the file you are looking for to appear - if ever.

Seems that the power users from the past have totally abandoned LimeWire for another P2P network. If anyone knows where they have gone to, please email me:

Thanks

I just recently purchased a computer with Windows Vista and was attempting to install LimeWire. I run the installation but it stops half way giving me an error that it was unable to open unpack2000.exe file. Any ideas?
