AirCast Beta lets you play your videos on your Chromecast

Developer Koushik Dutta releases a beta APK file to let users take the app for a spin and report bugs.

Chromecast may not currently support streaming of local media content on your Android device, but that's not stopping developer and hacker Koushik Dutta from making it happen. AirCast is Dutta's take on letting users play their media on Google's little dongle-that-could Chromecast.

Though the current version is still in beta, you can actually go ahead and grab the APK file yourself to try it out. Just be warned: this app will self-destruct in 48 hours, which Dutta says will most likely be removed once a more stable, freemium version gets released in the near future.
