Power2Go Essentials hits Version 9

Cyberlink's free disc burning utility adds FLAC/APE support and the ability to back up multimedia from social networks.

On Tuesday, Cyberlink launched an updated release of Power2Go, a suite of burning utilities for Windows, exclusively on Download.com. Version 9 includes some basic burning features, in addition to added support for backing up photos and videos from sites like Vimeo, Facebook, Flickr, and YouTube.

Notable improvements and upgrades in this version include support for ripping audio CDs to high-quality, lossless FLAC formats, as well as DVD burning support from Flash Video (FLV) and MKV file types.

Though the basic Essential pack, which lets you view ISO image files and copy basic video and audio discs, is free, Cyberlink also includes many extra, premium features to help users manage their system files, like the ability to back up their Windows to recovery discs and encrypt their DVDs.
