RealDownloader and our favorite Android apps

The latest in Download news.

While the world of Apple was rocked this past week with plenty of hardware and software releases, Windows Download news was comparatively light.

Makers of the Chinese search engine Baidu released a beta version of its first-ever browser this week, and at first glance, it looks quite similar to Google's Chrome. For those interested, the browser is available now as a free download to XP, Vista, and Windows 7. Meanwhile, stateside, Windows users were treated to a brand new product offering by our friends at RealNetworks. RealDownloader is perhaps the quickest and simplest online video downloader for Windows that we've seen, and unlike many of its competitors, it really works with just one click. If you're an avid online video downloader (legal content, to which you own the rights, of course), the program is free and available now on Download.com.

For our Android app fanatics, the past couple of weeks have been exciting ones, with CNET kicking off and wrapping up its CNET 100 series. This year, our editors posted their top Android app picks, and they've spanned a wide range of interests to say the least. From navigation, to photos, to food, to zombies, we've got apps that cover it all. You can see my personal picks here. And For our iPhone users, you get some news too, as Google+ made its way onto your platform.
