Protect your identity
Cautionary tales about identity theft are everywhere: blared from the TV, inked in news stories, and relayed with horrified detail in conversations among friends. Heck, I've had to deal with a lifted wallet myself. Anyone who's been there can attest that despite quick calls to the credit card companies and banks, dealing with the aftermath is still a hassle. But physical larceny is one thing; digital defrauding can quickly become a much deeper, broader, and unmitigated violation that can stretch to the bottom of your savings accounts and social circles.
The publishers behind the popular AVG security program franchise have introduced a new tool in AVG Anti-Virus 9 and AVG Free Edition to help combat computer thievery. In partnership with security service Identity Guard, the Identity Theft Recovery Unit sits with the browser toolbar, and can help U.S. customers access credit report tools and monitoring support services if you are hit.
The new AVG Anti-Virus 9 and AVG Internet Security 9 offer more features besides, and claim faster speeds. To find out if AVG 9's products live up to the claims, read our hands-on review.

- I have dealt with AVG , I am still dealing with AVG but in a round about manner before buying from AVG check their BBB listing and look into the complaints about how the company treats it customers . I purchased a 2yr AVG 8.5 internet suite from them and it started having issues after about 6 mos. My last go around with them ended up with me spending 2 weeks with customer service , remote assistance having my PC trashed without a desktop ,one processor shut down it wouldn't up date or shut down so it was recovered and AVG was reinstalled (4th time) it functioned for 2 restarts and stopped starting with the system , all in the same day .I contacted AVG thru customer service e-mail because they DON'T HAVE A CONTACT PHONE # I asked for contact info for a refund that was on 4-27 I have not received a reply yet ( the 4th time I requested contact info) I have a different AV product on my PC and its been working flawlessly now . But still nothing from AVG . I"M not saying AVG isn't a good product I know from experience it is , for some reason I had an issue their support didn't /couldn't rectify ,what bothers me once we reached this point AVG's response to this issue is to be totally non-responsive . I also have have not gone into the particulars of the issues I've had because they're they are varied from delayed boot to being left with a PC that was basically left as a paper weight (by their remote assistance) the AV not starting withing any active components or just not starting at all to name a few my biggest issue is they dropped me like a hot rock once I asked for a refund .
