Opera updates beta, but Unite still separate

Opera 10 continues to chug along, and the beta build of the browser has updated for Windows, Mac, and Linux. The publisher has declined to put its proprietary Web server service, Unite, in the build, indicating that it's not yet ready for beta consideration. Still, the enormous number of fixes to the Opera 10 beta should make many fans happy.

Several of the visual tweaks include an icon for when Opera Turbo is activated, a "Synchronize Opera" button on the Speed Dial page, and inverted tab icons for panels viewed as tabs. The Opera Wand has been renamed Password Manager, Transfers have been renamed Downloads, and hitting enter to select an item in a dropdown box will no longer submit a form.

There are other bug- and stability-fixes, as well. Changelogs are available separately for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Opera 10 beta 2 with Unite can be downloaded for Windows, Mac, and Linux, too.

Seth peers into the deep, dark corners of software so that you don't have to. He has yet to suffer a single nightmare about OS/2. You can follow him on Twitter.

lol what is this supposed to mean??

I believe it was meant as a jab at EU and Microsoft. You know one of those people that feel everything legal and normal in the computer industry has to be referenced to something that was as different as night and day in its total illegal nature no matter what side of the ocean you are on.

It's one of those things where you hear a joke told by someone else and don't really get it, but everyone laughed, so you then repeat it when it doesn't fit the conversation and everyone in the room looks at you with that uncomfortable look because they know you are trying to be funny, but failed miserably.

Turbo still as fast as it promised though, but nice cosmetic update in this release

Been using Opera and mostly Opera since '99. They need to improve the download manager, add backend acceleration, so I can dump third party download managers.

Just want to point out that people jump on Opera before knowing their facts, that their saint like Mozilla and Google are also part of the compliant, all parties have to cold dirty cash to gain from beating Microsoft.

If MS was beaten years ago, we wouldn't have to worry about which browser to use, just like all telephones can call anywhere, regardless of networks.

Excellent browser. I've been using Opera 10 beta 1 as my default since the first day I downloaded it. The few problems I've had have been minor, but I'm still curious about what improvements beta 2 will bring. Also, this sheep-like and badly-informed grudge the fankids have against Opera has me really, really wanting to like this program.
