Serve up a slice of Opera Unite

Opera's newest feature turns your browser into an app-extendable Web server. That's right: Opera Unite, the latest out of Norway for Windows, Mac, and Linux, runs counter to the cloud-based direction that most other programs are heading toward.

But is client-based serving a recipe for the future, or a return to the past? And is Unite truly client-based? See what the latest Opera 10 beta build can do in this First Look video.

Seth peers into the deep, dark corners of software so that you don't have to. He has yet to suffer a single nightmare about OS/2. You can follow him on Twitter.

Opera is always steps ahead of all the other browsers which are always copying their ideas... Opera 10 is a really smart, quick, beautiful, standards compliant acid3 test browser with all the features a smart web surfer needs!...

Tried Firefox with all the extensions and OPERA has most of them already inside! Besides
Opera has Widgets ( HUNDREDS OF great add ons), Speeddial, Opera link, notes, UNDO close tab, Magic Wand (for forms and passwords), SPELL CHECKER , built in Torrent tools, Fit to width, search bar, Smartest address bar, control with voice and webpage reader, customization by skins , duplicate tab, paste and go, panels, IMAP MAIL, FEEDS, Torrents, Dragonfly tools and Synchronizes (contacts, notes , history, bookmarks etc..) with the worlds best mobile browser OPERA mini and OPERA mobile ...All that was already a reason for everyone to be knowing OPERA...

Now Opera 10 UNITE opens a whole new experience with NO NEED to be downloading lots of programs ... I cant wait to start sharing without the hasslings of everybody having to install Messengers, LIMEWIRE, Utorrents,WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER, ITUNES , Irc clients etc...

I am an American and let me tell you guys, those Euros really know how to surf...the Internet, tI mean!

Opera 10 UNITE i think is way UNDERRATED!... I just imagine myself playing some music to my friends ... My own Pandora... big file sharing... I LIKE IT!

People have facebook for chatting, myspace for picture sharing, twitter for thought sharing, email in virtually every format for file sharing - I don't think they need Opera to add any of these functions - I think they would instead appreciate it if Opera contacted all of the websites that their browser won't work on and get them to work with them on compatability and I also think opera would be better served to have necessary plugins already bundled with their browser on download instead of the user having to jump through hoops and hurdles to get flash and things to work for opera once it's downloaded.

I think they'd had better spent their time fixing Opera annoyances like the pop up notifications for passwords and page search that no other browser has any longer, the strange behaviour of the mail client, the "sticky" middle button scrolling, the mouse pointer that "freezes" and no longer indicates or follows links, page zoom, adding real extensions, etc...

quit complaining they can't bundle the necessary plugin due to licensing issue. and they are probably already working the bugs and mail client issues all you want is another mozilla/seamonkey

opera is a unique browser, so if you can't say anything without whining about how opera isn't like seamonkey/mozila
THEN DON"T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!!!!!

no offense but firefox always goes behind Opera. Every cool feature is added into Firefox was originally developed by Opera. Still Opera leads in stability. Number one browser to me is Opera. Opera Unite is the coolest thing I heard in this year. Yet this feature really reinvents the net. Say what? I am so in love with Opera.
