Is there such a thing as too many Firefox extensions? Not as long as developers keep creating handy, gorgeous, or ingenious time-savers like the nine add-ons featured in our gallery. We leaned away from the usual, though always excellent, fare of McAfee Site Advisor, Google Preview, and these top five Firefox add-ons to bring you a new crop of favorites. Feel free to chime in with your own gems, too.

Jessica Dolcourt reviews the latest and greatest smartphone apps, in addition to a healthy dose of Windows software. E-mail Jessica and follow her on Twitter.

If you load too many add-ons, your browser will slow down. So yes, it's possible to have too many.

I still use 2.0.0.4, best version of Firefox - HANDS DOWN

Only plugins/addons I've ever used are the reasons for using firefox in the first place, they are:
Adblock Plus 0.7.5.1
Noscript 1.1.4.9
--------------------^ Best plugins ever made btw
And Custom Geometry 2.2.0

Try them and you'll know why.

I recently installed around 42 new (web developer related) extensions in one shot, on top of my existing 18, including something like 9 toolbars. And since there's no way to disable them before restarting, it was pure madness, the clutter I was seeing after I did reboot. It was fun though. I just had to chuckle at it.

I did immediately disable each and every one though and restarted. Until I have a use for them, um... well, I have no use for them!

You could open Firefox in safe mode and disable the addons, not completely sure if this is what u meant.

IE has add ons too. Such as Nortons, McAfee, and AVG. These add ons try to stop viruses that come through IE.

Word to the wise, NEVER DOWNLOAD COOLIRIS! It's buggy as hell and crashed my entire computer (in that I opened it, it got stuck on "loading" and I couldn't do anything whatsoever. Not even move my mouse, so I had to hard reset). After e-mailing support, they went "duhh, make sure you have the latest version ehe".

Never again.
