Featured Freeware: Craigslist Reader Pro

If you've ever hunted for a job, housing, furniture, or love on Craigslist.com, you'll appreciate the focus that Craigslist Reader Pro brings to your search. The desktop reader isn't pretty to look at, but it quickly lets you hone your search in Craigslist's key cities and categories, even displaying negative search terms and appropriate variables, such as images, price ranges, and--for housing--the allowance of pets.

For each search, Craigslist Reader Pro took a few seconds to load results into the top of four panels. The panel below displays the contents of each entry in an in-app browser. You'll be able to scroll to read contents and can reply to posters by clicking the address shown in the reader. The filter menu was also useful in narrowing an expansive field of results.

The interface is strictly utilitarian, and lacks a Help menu. There's also a panel of ads--an eyesore that doesn't interfere with the program's use. What blunts the efficacy is the lack of e-mail-like management for deleting discarded entries and flagging favorites one-by-one. You can click a button to save all old results, but it won't weed any out. Of course, Craigslist Reader Pro delivers on its promise to display Craigslist content, but better management tops our wish list.

For tricks how to search with CraigsPal this is so far what I found, check this out

1. If you want to weed out search results, you may checkmark (select custom) the results and use "Delete" button on the keyboard to delete. If you want to report all custom selected as a spam, press CTRL+R , it will automatically spam it on the CraigsList and erase all those posts from your search results screen. OR after marking the weed out search post, press right click button and utilize the options.

2. If you want to use boolean search directly in the search screen (without filter tab), use this example Keywords: ('198 '197 '196) mercedes diesel This will search for any of the cars with 1960-1989 mercedes diesel, now, you may utilize negative keywords to disregard spam posts such as " 'volvo, 'jetta " etc (all the spammers use keywords with multiple car manufacturers in this case)

3. Keyboard shortcuts, using them you don't need to use mouse

-"A" - Search result screen: Browse Up one search
-"Z" - Search result screen: Browse Down one search
-"S" - Preview search screen: Scroll preview up
-"X" - Preview search screen: Scroll preview down
-"C" - Search result screen: Scrool's down to the End of the browser screen, if post contains image, it will be displayed centrally
-"CTRL+R" - Search result screen: Flag post as spam/overpost to Craigslist (select multiple post results)
-"DEL" - Search result screen: Deletes selected post(s)

Correction: Keywords: ('198 '197 '196) mercedes diesel needs wildcard mask ('198* '197* '196*)
