No penalty for Comcast if merger with Time Warner Cable fails

Comcast negotiated an easy escape hatch if regulators put too much heat on the $45.2 billion merger with Time Warner Cable, according to a regulatory filing Thursday.

According to the S4 filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday, Comcast will not owe Time Warner Cable a breakup fee if the deal falls through due to regulatory issues. The filing also indicated that Time Warner Cable CEO Rob Marcus, who had only been on the job as CEO for two months before the merger was announced, will receive an $80 million severance package should the deal be completed … Read more

Doctors testing Google Glass to get real-time patient data

While the general public appears to still be making up its mind about Google Glass and the idea of wearing a face computer, in some fields of work the wearable could be a helpful asset.

One such field is medicine. By using Glass, doctors won't have to use their hands to dig through files, search computers, or look up facts on a tablet. With a simple nod of the head or blink of the eye, they could get all of the real-time information they need without having to leave a patient.

Trapped in the Time Travel Lab: My puzzling Sunday

"You are trapped in the mysterious laboratory, where it has been said, they study time travel. The door is closed. A lot of hidden clues await you. You wonder if they were able to make time travelling true..." These words on a poster beckon you in to a frantic puzzle-solving team experience that can lead, as it did in my case, to your untimely demise.

Or you might...Escape from the Time Travel Lab.

SCRAP Entertainment's first Real Escape Game was held in Japan, and nowadays the company is putting on events in San Francisco, Seattle, and Los Angeles. In addition to the basic Mysterious Room, people have escaped from the Magic Show, the Werewolf Village, and other sticky scenarios. There are also Real Escape Game branches in Singapore, Taiwan, and China, plus there seem to be at least four live-escape game companies operating in the UK, so I'm going to call this a worldwide phenomenon. If the rest of this sounds fun to you, you may be able to find something similar nearby.… Read more

Outrun daleks in the Doctor Pacman Flash game

Play a Time Lord version of Pac-Man complete with a pixilated bow tie in this fan-made Flash game Doctor Pacman -- made by Ruben P. Vargas from Rarity Workshop. Ghosts Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde (renamed Caan, Thay, Jast, and Seec) are replaced with their corresponding colored daleks.

As Doctor Pacman, you must gobble the sonic screwdriver to disable the daleks and make them vulnerable to attack. When the daleks are in attack mode again, they chant "exterminate" over and over as they chase your Time Lord, who runs around the Tardis, just like in "Doctor Who." … Read more
