The bigger your TV, the happier you are. I can't point to any "research" or "facts" to prove that claim, but I feel in my bones it must be true.

Ergo, a big TV for a low price must make you downright ecstatic. And here you go: for a limited time, and while supplies last, Walmart has the Seiki SE47FY19 47-inch HDTV for $329 shipped (plus sales tax). Friday Poll: What brought the heat at CES 2014?

CES 2014 is winding down, and it's been full of strange moments, celebrity appearances, and an unrelenting march of new Ultra HD and/or curved televisions.

Over the course of the week, some clear trends emerged at this annual tech takeover of Las Vegas -- some we expected, while others were a bit more surprising. Wearable technologies like new smartwatches and activity trackers dominated the show (they must be able to multiply as quickly as rabbits... or Bluetooth speakers, which appeared this year with a level of ubiquity previously met only by iPhone cases).

Unsurprisingly, 4K televisions could also … Read more

LG rolls out 77-inch flexible OLED TV

LG unveiled a 77-inch flexible OLED TV at the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show on Monday, in tandem with competitor Samsung's own buzzworthy bendable TV announcement.

The new LG television lets users adjust the angle of a TV screen with a remote control, switching the viewing from a flat screen to a curved screen. The result, LG hopes, is an appealing and tailored viewing experience.

"LG's Flexible OLED TV is a product that has to be seen to be believed because it defies description," Hyun-hoi Ha, CEO of LG's Home Entertainment Company, said in a … Read more

Do you really care about 4K TVs? (poll)

Welcome to the land of high-definition diminishing returns, also known as 4K television.

Or at least that's one way of looking at the myriad new ultra-high-definition displays that all the big names and even some lesser-known companies are introducing this week at CES. In case you're out of the loop on what 4K is, it's a display standard that uses roughly 4,000 pixels horizontally across the screen; it has four times the number of pixels of 1080p and double that of a 13-inch MacBook Retina display.

If the hype around those now old-timey-seeming retina displays is … Read more
