Racing Car review

Despite its somewhat misleading title, Racing Car isn't a game but a collection of 18 digitally enhanced wallpapers featuring spectacular cars like Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. Apart from the included images, the app also provides quick access to wallpapers from other categories provided by the developer, including Animal, Flowers, and Fantasy. The only inconvenience of using this app is the occasional fullscreen ad.

Racing Car installs quickly, and then presents you with a gallery of sleek sport cars. Setting any one of them as your new wallpaper takes only two taps. A nice touch is the Portrait or Landscape … Read more

Get a smartphone-controlled RC race car for $39.99

I've never met a kid who didn't love radio-controlled cars, and I know plenty of adults who dig 'em as well.

For a limited time, and while supplies last, StackSocial has the Griffin Moto TC Rally RC car for $39.99, shipped. It normally sells for $99.99, and the best price I've seen elsewhere is around $60.

First things first: This is no wimpy little racer. The Moto TC Rally measures around 10 inches long and sits on big rubber tires atop an independent shock-absorbing suspension. It's far more substantial than you'd expect, and … Read more

What if Red Bull's season didn't improve?

As Britain's greatest bard put it; "Now entertain conjecture of a time".

Pre-season testing has not gone well for the Red Bull F1 team. They've started on the back foot (or perhaps hoof in the case of Red Bull, and err, also Ferrari for that matter). The Renault power unit has proved troublesome, and Adrian Newey's tight packaging has simply exacerbated those problems. From this moment on, they are playing catch-up, and, as they say in Formula One "If you are not going forwards then you are.. just plain f*#3d".

Mad Skills Motocross 2 gets better graphics and more challenging gameplay

Mad Skills Motocross 2 (iOS|Android) is the long-awaited sequel to one of my favorite mobile racing games ever, bringing more challenging 2D motocross racing. But this time, you don't have to spend a cent; Mad Skills Motocross 2 is a freemium game, and the in-app purchase model stays out of your way as long as you have "mad skills."

Not for the casual gamer, this racing game is all about precision and going for the perfect run, so if you have the patience, you can beat the game without using any in-app purchases. With that said, … Read more

Review: Hit the track in addictive Fast Racing 3D

Fast Racing 3D gives you all of the options, graphics, and challenging gameplay you could ever ask for in a mobile racing game. It's on par with some of the racing games you'd find for 64-bit consoles that you might have grown up playing. If you'd like a similar experience on your tablet or smartphone, this is the game you want to download.

Fast Racing 3D looks and performs like your standard racer, letting you take on computer opponents as well as time trials. Top performances in these levels earn you cash, which you can spend to … Read more

Top 10 most dangerous race tracks

Motorsport is getting safer and safer but it has and always will have an element of danger to it. Some say that's why both the spectators and the participants love it. Some race tracks have proven to be more dangerous than others though. We've listed the 10 that have claimed the most lives to date.

Imola didn't make this list, incidentally. Although it will always be remembered as the scene of that horrible weekend the sport lost both Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna it has not claimed nearly as many lives as the rest of this list.… Read more

Jet Car stunts is back and better than ever

Jet Car Stunts 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the physics-based racing and stunt car game that was a hit way back in 2009 in the App Store. But with this installment, the game has several new cars (each with different handling), different race types, and tons of high-flying action.

The control system is mostly the same as the original game, with tilt controls to steer and onscreen gas and brake buttons. But even with its pitch-perfect controls, Jet Car Stunts 2 is extremely challenging, and is probably not a good fit for casual racing game fans.

It's also … Read more

Angry Birds Go! brings the hit franchise to the world of 3D racing

Angry Birds Go! (iOS|Android) is the latest game from Rovio's popular Angry Birds franchise, but this time the birds are hitting a downhill racetrack for a Mario Cart-style arcade racing game. It's important to note right away that this latest Rovio title is a freemium game, with no cost to download, but there are time limits and micro-transactions that become apparent not far into the game.

Racing really is for the birds Before I get into the freemium model, let's talk about gameplay. Angry Birds Go! is a downhill racer, so rather than driving around a … Read more

Review: Overtorque Stunt Racing for Mac offers a competitive racing experience

Overtorque Stunt Racing for Mac features exciting gameplay and comes with impressive car customization options. The graphics could be better, but they work as they are and won't take the fun away from the awesome gaming experience that this racing simulator offers. If you like car tuning and racing, you're in for a treat.

Overtorque Stunt Racing installs directly into your Dashboard as a widget, but to start playing the game, you'll need to install the Unity plug-in. Once the game is set you can choose from four different game modes including race, interceptor, hot dog, and … Read more

NBC reality show to launch real people into space

Reality TV is struggling like a man trying to get out of a glass coffin full of scorpions on a Japanese game show.

How can the producers make it more interesting? We've surely seen everything.

Well, we've never seen the winners being shot into outer space, have we?

So it has come to pass that Mark Burnett, the very clever man behind such cultural artifacts as "The Apprentice" and "The Celebrity Apprentice," has persuaded NBC to buy as show called "Space Race."… Read more
